Toxicology is that the study of the adverse effects of chemicals or physical agents on living organisms. The scientific study of adverse effects is that occur in the living organisms due to the chemicals. It has a key role in the development of new drugs, which are evaluated for potential toxic effects in pre-clinical studies, clinical trials and post-marketing studies with the aim of ensuring that their benefits outweigh their risks.

4. Pharmaceutical Formulations
Formulation studies involve developing a preparation of the drug which is both stable and acceptable to the patient. For orally administered drugs, this usually involves incorporating the drug into a tablet or a capsule. It is important to make the distinction that a tablet contains a variety of other potentially inert substances apart from the drug itself, and studies have to be carried out to ensure that the encapsulated drug is compatible with these other substances in a way that does not cause harm, whether direct or indirect.
Preformulation involves the characterization of a drug's physical, chemical, and mechanical properties in order to choose what other ingredients (excipients) should be used in the preparation. In dealing with protein pre-formulation, the important aspect is to understand the solution behavior of a given protein under a variety of stress conditions such as freeze/thaw, temperature, shear stress among others to identify mechanisms of degradation and therefore its mitigation.

8. Pharmacoepidemiology:
Pharmacoepidemiology is the study of the utilization and effects of drugs in large numbers of people; it provides an estimate of the probability of beneficial effects of a drug in a population and the probability of adverse effects. It can be called a bridge science spanning both clinical pharmacology and epidemiology. Pharmacoepidemiology concentrates on clinical patient outcomes from therapeutics by using methods of clinical epidemiology and applying them to understanding the determinants of beneficial and adverse drug effects, effects of genetic variation on drug effect, duration-response relationships, clinical effects of drug-drug interactions, and the effects of medication non-adherence.

The medical technology industry is an eminent part of the healthcare sector. It includes, most of all, medical devices which simplify the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases and illnesses. The most well-known medical technology products are, among others, pacemakers, imaging instruments, dialysis machines and implants.
Global:
The global market for medical device technologies reached $458.3 billion in 2015. The market should reach $483.5 billion in 2016. The global market for medical devices technologies reached nearly $521.2 billion in 2017 and should reach $674.5 billion by 2022, at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.3% for the period of 2017-2022.
Asia Pacific:
Asia-Pacific medical equipment maintenance market is expected to reach USD 9,054.0 million by 2025 from USD 4,897.9 million in 2017, at the highest of 8.1% in the forecast period 2018 to 2025. The new market report contains data for historic years 2016, the base year of calculation is 2017 and the forecast period is 2018 to 2025.
Hong Kong:
Notably, drug spending from the special administrative region's Samaritan Fund - established to finance the health expenditure of low-income people - rose by a significant 12% y-o-y to amount to HKD26 9mn (USD34mn). In aggregate, public funding of pharmaceuticals in Hong Kong rose by 7% y-o-y to amount to HKD5.9bn (USD770mn) for the year.
This growth in pharmaceutical spending in Hong Kong falls in line with our expectations, and we will thus maintain our forecast. We project top-line medicine spending in the special administrative region to grow from HKD9.6bn (USD1.2bn) in 2016, to HKD13.4bn (USD1.7bn) by 2021 and HKD18bn (USD2.3bn) by 2026.
